Rocky Mountain golf at Jasper Park Lodge, Kananaskis and Stewart Creek. You pick the courses, we line up the tee times.

Plan your trip

A golf trip in Alberta is, almost by definition, a Rocky Mountain trip. The province's best courses are set among the peaks of the Canadian Rockies, from Jasper in the north to Kananaskis and Canmore near Banff, and they are some of the most scenic rounds anywhere in the country. Fairways arranges the tee times across all of them, so you choose the courses and dates and we handle the booking.

The marquee courses

Three courses that define Alberta golf

Alberta golf means the Rockies. These three are the headline acts, and all three sit within a couple of hours of each other.

Jasper Park Lodge

The Fairmont calls it "this 18-hole, Stanley Thompson-designed treasure." Carved through the trees beside Lac Beauvert, it is regularly ranked among the best courses in the country and is the bucket-list round of an Alberta trip.

Kananaskis Country Golf Course

Two full 18-hole courses, Mount Kidd and Mount Lorette, sit side by side in Kananaskis Country. Between them they offer, in the club's words, "over 120 silica sand bunkers" and bent-grass greens, framed by some of the most dramatic peaks in the range.

Stewart Creek, Canmore

Built on the site of a former coal mine, this Gary Browning design weaves the area's mining history into a par 72 framed by the Three Sisters. Fast greens, big elevation, and a free drop out of the old mine shafts.

Playing golf at altitude in the Rockies

Mountain golf in Alberta plays differently than at sea level. The thin air sends the ball noticeably further, so most players club down by a number on approach, and the elevation changes mean very few shots are flat. The scenery does the rest.

The trade-off is a shorter season. The Rocky Mountain courses open later and close earlier than the valleys, so plan for roughly late spring through early fall.

FAQ

Alberta golf trips, answered

Which Alberta courses can Fairways arrange?

The headline courses are Jasper Park Lodge, the two Kananaskis Country courses (Mount Kidd and Mount Lorette), and Stewart Creek in Canmore, all in the Canadian Rockies.

When is golf season in the Alberta Rockies?

Roughly late spring through early fall. Mountain courses open later and close earlier than valley courses, with high summer the most reliable window.

Does the altitude really change how far the ball goes?

Yes. The thin mountain air adds noticeable distance, so most players club down by a number on approach shots.

Can I combine Alberta and BC on one trip?

Yes. One enquiry covers both provinces, so we can line up a trip that pairs the Rockies with the Okanagan or the BC coast.
