An Exciting Time for Golf in Canada
It's a big moment for golf in Canada. New destination courses are breaking ground, beloved clubs are investing in major upgrades, and some of the biggest names in the business are changing hands. For golfers who love to travel, the map is getting a lot more interesting. Here's a look at what's happening.
Cabot Revelstoke takes shape in BC's mountains
Cabot, the group behind Cabot Cape Breton, is bringing its first mountain golf destination to Revelstoke, BC. The 18-hole course, designed by Rod Whitman and his firm Whitman, Axland & Cutten, is set against the Monashee and Selkirk ranges, with limited preview play this fall and a full opening planned for 2027. A 12-hole short course called The Rail Yard, inspired by Revelstoke's railway history, and a new mountain lodge round out the plans.
Cabot Wilds is coming to Nova Scotia
Cabot also announced Cabot Wilds, a 2,500-acre golf destination in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia, near Oxford. The 18-hole course, designed by Toronto-based architect Jeff Mingay, will run through highlands and river valleys along the River Philip. The project is being developed in partnership with the Bragg family and is targeted to open in late 2027.
Fox Harb'r opens the first nine of its Ocean Course
On Nova Scotia's Northumberland Shore, Fox Harb'r Resort has opened the first nine holes of its new Ocean Course, with several holes playing right along the Northumberland Strait. Canadian architects Doug Carrick and Tom McBroom are behind the project, and the resort is aiming to have two 18-hole courses in play by 2027.
Whistler Golf Club gets a $10 million makeover
Whistler Golf Club, Arnold Palmer's 1983 design in the heart of the village, is in the middle of a roughly $10 million renovation led by architect Thad Layton, formerly of Arnold Palmer Course Design. The work covers rebuilt tees, reworked bunkers and fairways, reimagined holes, new irrigation and an upgraded clubhouse and restaurant. The club is scheduled to reopen in July 2027.
GolfBC changes hands
In August 2026, GolfBC completed the sale of its operating business, brand and select properties to Sandpiper Group, a Vancouver-based family office and private equity firm. The deal includes Nicklaus North in Whistler, plus Gallagher's Canyon and The Okanagan Golf Club in Kelowna. It's one of the biggest ownership moves in Western Canadian golf in years, and a sign of how much confidence investors have in the game right now.
